Tradie websites for Wellington

We're based here, so let's not pretend Wellington is like anywhere else. Steep sites, weather that punishes exterior work, and a housing stock that keeps tradies in business — the trades that do well here are the ones that say so plainly.

What the Wellington market is actually like

Wellington is compact enough that a good tradie genuinely can cover most of it, which changes the calculation completely from Auckland. Region-wide terms are winnable here. But the region stretches from the city out through Porirua, the Hutt Valley and up the Kapiti Coast, and a customer in Upper Hutt is not going to assume a Karori business will come to them. That's the split your site has to handle.

How Wellington customers search

Wellington searches lean harder on the specific problem than the specific suburb, because the city is small enough that people expect you to travel. 'Roof repair Wellington' and 'earthquake strengthening assessment' get typed more than the suburb equivalents. What matters more here is proving you'll actually turn up to a hillside site with terrible access — because plenty won't.

What we build into a Wellington tradie's site

Access is the quote nobody else gives properly

Steep sections, no off-street parking, and jobs where everything gets carried up ninety steps. Tradies who explain how they handle difficult access win work from customers who've been quoted high or turned down flat by three others.

Strengthening and seismic work is a Wellington conversation

Building assessments and strengthening are live issues here in a way they simply aren't in Hamilton or Tauranga. If your trade touches that work, it deserves its own page rather than a line on a list.

Weatherboard and the southerly

Wellington's wind and driving rain are brutal on exterior paint, cladding and roofing. Work that lasts here is a genuine differentiator, and explaining the systems you use to achieve it justifies not being the cheapest quote.

Apartments and body corporate work

Wellington has far more apartment and multi-unit stock than most New Zealand cities, and that work runs through body corporates and building managers rather than individual owners. It's a completely different sales process — slower, more paperwork, but bigger and more repeatable. Very few trade sites speak to it at all.

Areas we'll target for you

Your build includes suburb and service-area targeting. For a Wellington business that usually means some combination of:

We pick the ones you actually service on the kickoff call. Fewer real areas beats a long list of thin pages — Google spots padded location pages, and so do customers.

Questions from Wellington tradies

Are you actually based in Wellington?

Yes. WFT runs out of Wellington, which means we know why a Brooklyn job quotes differently to a flat section in Petone, and we'll write your copy accordingly. We build for trade businesses right across New Zealand, but this is home.

Should the site cover the Hutt and Porirua as well?

If you work there, definitely — and as their own areas rather than lumped under 'Wellington'. Someone in Upper Hutt searching for a tradie does not assume a Wellington city business covers them, and often assumes the opposite. Naming the areas explicitly removes that doubt, which is most of the job.

Is it worth chasing body corporate work through the site?

If you can handle the process, yes — it's some of the most valuable work in Wellington and the least contested online. Building managers are searching for someone who understands quoting to a committee, scheduling around residents and providing proper documentation. Saying that plainly on a page puts you ahead of essentially every competitor, because almost none of them mention it.

Built for your trade as well as your city
