WFT — Websites for Tradies ("WFT", "we", "us") is a New Zealand web design service that builds websites for tradespeople. You can reach us at info@websitesfortradies.co.nz.
We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
The only personal information we ask you for on this website is what you type into the kickoff-call form:
We do not ask for your email address, date of birth, financial details, or any government identifier through this website. We never collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act.
Like almost every website, some technical information is collected when you visit:
We also record that a kickoff-call form was submitted, so we can tell which pages actually generate enquiries. That record contains none of the details you typed into the form.
All of this is aggregated analytics used to understand what's working on the site. It is not used to identify you personally.
One reason: to call you back about building your website. That's it.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers. We do not add you to a marketing list without you asking. If you fill in the form and then decide against it, tell us and we'll delete your details.
We use a small number of third-party services to run this website. Each one is listed here so you know exactly where your information goes.

Because Formspree and Google are based overseas, your information may be stored or processed outside New Zealand. We only use providers that offer protections comparable to those required by the Privacy Act.
This website sets a small number of analytics cookies through Google Analytics — _ga and one starting _ga_. They let us tell a returning visitor from a new one and see which pages lead to enquiries. They expire after two years, and you can clear or block them in your browser at any time without breaking anything on this site.
That is the extent of it. Specifically, this website does not:
New Zealand has no cookie-banner law equivalent to the EU's, and we would rather explain what we set than make you dismiss a pop-up to read the page. If you would prefer not to be counted at all, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, or your browser's private mode will do the same job.
The site is served over HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate. Form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people at WFT who need it to contact you.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, tell us first — we'd rather fix it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
This policy covers this website only. If we build a website for your business, that site is yours and you are the one responsible for its privacy policy and for any personal information your customers give you through it. We'll help you get a sensible policy in place as part of the build, but the legal responsibility sits with you as the site owner.
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be obvious, not buried.
Short version: we collect your name, phone, trade and suburb so we can ring you about a website. We don't sell it, we don't spam you, and you can have it deleted by emailing info@websitesfortradies.co.nz.
